Last year I planned such an escape to Sedona with 7 friends. We hiked, meditated, got massages and communed with nature. We all returned with renewed focus, energy and deepened friendships.
TYPES OF GIRLFRIEND GETAWAYS
While that type of trip might not be your cup of tea, everyone has friends special to them, and activities that unite them. What’s your idea of a perfect getaway? Here are a few to consider:
Retail Therapy. I love to travel with my mom and sisters. My sisters have “black belts” in shopping and we have explored boutiques from Arizona to Zurich and found many treasures along the way. So why not combine a trip to a big city with great shopping, dining and entertainment. Whether it is a week-end in New York or a week in Paris, you will return ready to take on the world again.
Wellness Retreats. Why not check-in to a spa or go on a yoga retreat? It might not appeal to your significant other, but your girlfriends might love getting “rubbed and scrubbed”, perfecting their downward dog, or just relaxing. A little pampering never hurt anyone and you might come home with some healthy new habits or even a few pounds lighter. Bonus!!
Sports Trips. You might choose to scuba dive in Grand Cayman, Golf in the US or Scotland or just plan a trip around a sporting event (tip: in the case of the latter, plan early). Your travel advisor will take care of all the pesky details including tee times, dives, etc., leaving you to just relax and enjoy.
Just Chillin’. Maybe you just need to relax, rejuvenate and spend time with your favorite people. Cruises and All-Inclusives are perfect for that type of getaway. Do as much or as little as you like, where the biggest decision you have to make is which flavor of margarita to order.
